Chip Roy

for Attorney General

The Candidate Endorsement Committee of Republican Liberty Caucus of Texas, determined to identify the best candidate for the office that carries much weight in the legal defense of Texans life, liberty, and property came to an unanimous agreement that Chip Roy is the individual most qualified to be our next Texas Attorney General.

Chip stated "The AG’s foremost obligation is to defend liberty and the Constitution, not expand and manage bureaucracy. Constitutions exist to restrain government, not justify growth. My office would ensure every action or opinion is rooted in enumerated powers and strict adherence to due process. Liberty must win."  RLCTX could not agree more.

Chip Roy’s responses to the RLCTX Attorney General candidate survey and subsequent interviews confirm his ardent commitment to constitutional governance. On core principles including congressional war powers, the overuse of outdated Authorizations for Use of Military Force (AUMFs), and the proper balance between state and federal authority, Roy articulated a clear determination to restore federalism. He acknowledged Defend the Guard legislation as a meaningful structural mechanism to realign war authority within its intended constitutional limits and to reassert the role of the states in checking federal excess.

During his tenure in Congress, Chip Roy has consistently spoken and voted in favor of restoring institutional accountability and limiting federal overreach. His record reflects sustained support for fiscal restraint, regulatory limitation, medical freedom, national sovereignty, and the restoration of Congress’s exclusive authority to declare war.

When asked directly whether he would defend Texas against unconstitutional federal action as Attorney General, Mr. Roy responded without hesitation that he would use the full constitutional authority of the office to defend Texas law and its citizens. He affirmed that the Texas Attorney General has both the authority and the duty to resist federal actions that exceed enumerated constitutional powers.

In RLCTX's analysis Chip has proven himself to be a candidate who understands both the legal mechanics and the broader liberty implications of issues:  including due process, over-criminalization, immigration enforcement, and public safety failures. He framed these matters not as isolated policy disputes, but as part of a broader constitutional imperative: that Texans have a right to hold our Office of the Attorney General and Texas Law Enforcement to a high standard.

Chip Roy’s reliance on constitutional guardrails for all branches and levels of government provides strong assurance that he would faithfully execute the duties of the Attorney General’s office and serve well the people of Texas.

The Republican Liberty Caucus of Texas believes that the Attorney General must be held by someone who will defend the Constitution and protect Texans’ rights.  For these reasons, we proudly endorse Chip Roy for Attorney General and encourage Texas Republicans to support him. learn more about his campaign at https://chiproy.com/
