Ron Paul Fundraiser
Report Author: Don Zimmerman
September 28, 2002 - Austin, Texas
The Republican Liberty Caucus
(RLC) hosted Dr. Ron Paul and several RLC-TX candidates and office holders at the
Stephen F. Austin Intercontinental Hotel. About 65 people attended the event and several thousand dollars
were raised for Dr. Paul's new CD-14 race this fall.
The first speaker was RLC-TX member and Bastrop County
Commissioner Don Loucks. Also briefly speaking were Jack Stick (State Rep. District 50 candidate), Melissa
Goodwin (Travis Pct. 3 JP candidate), Andrew Pacetti (State Rep. District 49 candidate), and Jerry
Patterson (Texas Land Commissioner candidate). Also Libertarian candidates Michele Messina (CD-10
candidate) and Jason Pratt (County Judge candidate) were recognized.
Dr. Paul spoke at length on the
Constitutional separation of powers, in the context of the current Bush administrations' foreign policy, and about the runaway spending in Washington. Dr. Paul then gave a
lengthy question and answer session, and enjoyed a hearty standing ovation at the conclusion of his well
received discourse.
